Jumping on the band wagon...

Yup it's official I'm jumping on my SIL's bandwagon - I want to move somewhere warm. I am so sick of the snow and need to get out of it. This morning's commute was terrible well ok most of the main drags were ok as long as you didn't go to fast but unfortunately you can't take all main roads to Evelyn's daycare. I went mt read to ridgeway because typically these are better cleared than 390 (I have no idea why since 390 is the HIGHWAY...). I didn't think of the exit that takes me from mt read to ridgeway. Yeah it was NOT plowed AT ALL. Yes I drove through 16 inches of snow in my Malibu. Evelyn must have sensed my nerves because she cried a lot more this morning in the car than she normally does making the drive that much funner. White knuckles does not even describe my anxiety driving down this mile of road. It certainly didn't help that I passed an SUV that was stuck on the road and at the same time realized that even though I thought about grabbing my cell phone before leaving the house I had not actually grabbed it. Somehow I miraculously made it to daycare through another set of bad roads (the road that daycare is on is always bad).

I was so happy to have Evelyn safe at daycare and not in the car with me. Driving to work was not to bad after I got onto the on ramp of 390. getting onto the onramp was fun as I had to drive through the wake of a snowplow. I angled my car too where another car had made it through (essentially putting me in the middle of two lanes but I didn't care so much)and hoped for the best. luckily I made it :) though honestly once Evelyn was safe and warm I would not have cared as much about getting stuck as much as it would have sucked.

The rest of the drive was uneventful though I think my running later than I usually do helped give the plows a little more time to clean up though you couldn't tell at the parking lot at work. I parked and was home free when I noticed that my coworker was stuck in the snow in the corner of the parking lot. So I got out my trusty shovel (thanks mom and dad for this great purchase so many years ago) and we (a long with the security guard who rocked the car out) managed to get it out. I admit this is the first time I have used the shovel but it always makes me feel better that it is there if I need it!

After work the parking lot was no better; Since it was snowing all day as well it was actually worse. The exit I usually take had the bar taken out (we have security gates and someone clearly lost control of their car taking it down). since there was still 16 inches of snow around the tire tracks I'm not to surprised. I almost lost control of my car there too. After that however the roads were fine - wet but fine.

I got to daycare only to find that they had closed early. Apparently they had tried to call my cell phone and though they may have tried at work too they didn't leave a message there. They apparently tried to reach Jason as well but they must not have tried to hard because he was home and the didin't get him. So I told her that calling my cell phone was not such a great idea and that my work phone was best. She seemed embarrassed that they closed early as the roads and weather were all fine. So I told her that I wish they had opened late. I hope if it was something that was really bad they would have tried to get a hold of me a little harder...
