Happy Easter!

We had a great day today despite the fact that my eye was again swollen (worse than last night), I did however have trouble getting out of bed.  Jason got up with the kids giving me a few minutes to get my eye open, wash it off and get my first dose of drops in.

the kids were very excited about finding eggs in their rooms again however Evelyn was disappointed that she did not get to take a picture of the Easter Bunny despite having a camera in her bed.  The first thing that she said to me was "I'm sorry that I didn't get a picture of the Easter Bunny." and she sounded to sad.  But that quickly dissipated once she started to help her brother find his eggs.  She seemed disappointed that the eggs had daddy's cereal in them.  but i am still thinking that having breakfast cereal in them may be a good tradition and get them to eat some breakfast before the real hunt begins.
 Evelyn still got the egg...

Evelyn was eager to go downstairs and did a great job finding eggs.  it was hard to slow her down so that William (wh kept stopping t eat what was in his eggs) could get some too.  The eggs were stuffed with oreo minis (the biggest favorite) Amy's cinnamon bunnies and pennies.  They both ate all the oreos before breakfast.

After lunch we had out typical failed nap time so I took the kids outside.  Evelyn was excited to get her bike out for the summer.  She will son be ready for a big girl bike!  and william is starting to get teh hang of the bike as well.  We also took the time to play out in the front yard with dad taking a break from cooking to come out as well.  Eventually it got colder and windy which bothered my eye so we needed to go inside.

We had craft time however the kids were not interested in doing what i was hoping for so I had to settle for them scribbling (and not leting me cut up their pictures and made my own to make eggs for easter cards.  Hopefully I can get them out tomorrow though i am disapointed that the eggs were not decorated by the kids this year.

Dinner went well though william (thaks to the eggs) had crackers stashed everywhere and so he didn't eat too well but evelyn did a great job and both sat relativly still.  Okay william was in his high chari but still.  after dinner we had an early Yellow bath with bubbles whic went well untill William decided to jump wich means I take him out usually kicking and screaming.

Daddy got him ready for bed as evelyn cleaned up her blocks so that she could have a mani & Pedi.

A little spring gardening...

After work today both kids got the shovels out today.  Evelyn went in after dad opened the door however William insisted on staying outside.  Daddy wrestled Him into his jacket which he is refusing to wear these days and we were off for some spring gardening.  I can't wait until it is warmer and we get to play outside after work for real!

Proof that although spring is here winter will not go...

I dressed Evelyn's dolls in one of Aunt Sarah's old Pajamas and Evelyn got super excited.  She said "Oh mom, she looks like she is getting married!

It's amazing how a day can go.

The day started out rough enough trying to get Evelyn going - we really need to find a solution to that issue.  and got a little better as the day wore on.  William had a great swim class, he chose his own noodle (a thick yellow one) and told me in no uncertain terms that he was to use it alone.  I helped him position it (to which he told me again  "no do it myself")  so I let go.  He did an awesome job swimming around the pool.  It will take some more time to develop the muscles that he needs to do it on his own, but using the noodle will help more than me holding him up.  He did eventually get tired and tell me enough was enough.  At which time we switched back to me keeping him afloat.  During back-floats I even tried to get him to do Chicken, airplane Soldier.  All i can say is that one victory is good for the day though that could have been worse.

During Evelyn's class she wanted me to watch her which since the water was freezing I was more than happy to do.  But then came time for jumps - she has in the past done huge jumps into the pool telling me I need to get back.  But since the new class she will barely agree to a wimpy jump.  Last class I hopped into the water hoping that she would give me a good jump but she would not.  This time the teacher told me to toss her (a short distance) to her and I did.  Okay I admit freely that that was not a great idea.  She didn't go under water but she was still very upset. Lesson learned.  She is still willing to do the next session of swim lessons so at least there is that.

After swimming we meet up with one of her oldest friends so we could play in the play gym for a bit.  Okay the reason for the meet was to had of and Easter bunny costume as my mother is the BEST GRANDMOTHER ON THE PLANET!  Then we got to hang out and play for a bit.  It's hard to believe how far these girls have come.

Evelyn ate a great lunch at grandma's house then settled down for a brief quiet time.  Even William was not going to take a nap today.  After a brief try we got the kids up and gave them a small snack. Jason came over then we went to Sesame Street Live as a surprise for the kids.

They loved it and sat enraptured the whole time.

We came home and all was fairly smooth until bedtime.  William wanted daddy and so did Evelyn.  William won out this time and Evelyn got mommy which she was not happy about.  She fought me and delayed,  I lost count of how many times she told me she hated me.  I was very frustrated.  I finally told her that I had had enough and that she needed to get into bed.  She started to cry and said "but It's not fair I didn't get to spend any time with daddy."  FINALLY something reasonable came out of her mouth that I could address.   We found a solution.  She apologized to me then daddy could read her one book and spend more time with her tomorrow.

Kindergarten Sign Up

Today I signed Evelyn up for kindergarten. It was exciting and sad at the same time.  It is so hard to believe how fast the time has gone.  I of course was the first person there (and 15 minutes early).  The Greeter made me wait for a minute before starting but then decided that she would be nice and get started a little early.

I have to admit that i was a bit in shock as I drove away.  It was kind of an odd feeling part of me wanted to cry (though I've been pretty emotional anyway) and the rest of me just can't believe that Evelyn is old enough to be signed up for kindergarten.  I have heard some good things about the school both from co workers and a drug rep so I am hopeful that it is indeed a good school.
