Coffee is not the answer.
I am exhausted after getting up with Evelyn several times last night and decided that if ever I needed a cup of coffee today would be the day. After drinking a cup I realized that it is not the answer as now I am just as exhausted and jittery as well. What was I thinking?
And so it goes...
Evelyn is sick again (see her blog as I am better at keeping it up). Jason insisted on keeping her home from daycare although she has a little wheezing and cough. No Fever or anything else as she seems to have gotten over her runny nose. He took her to the doctor and they said she had RSV. I guess I'm glad she didn't go to daycare.

Go figure
We finally have friends over and Evelyn is sick again. Though she was in good spirits and having a great time playing she was having trouble breathing and didn't want to go to bed. We had a nice dinner listening to Evelyn cry. Our friends left early with a promise to come back when she feels better and Evelyn finally went to sleep around 8 or so. She woke up about every two hours with little coughs and wheezing.

one long week
Jason left for Germany last week on Saturday and with amazing timing I was struck with a GI bug. I was supposed to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house but there was no way I was going anywhere that took me away from a toilet for more than 10 min. I did what I could for a while then realized that Evelyn would have more fun playing with Grandpa downstairs than hanging out with me in the bathroom. Thankfully he was willing and came up.
Monday I had a doctors appointment to check on Evelyn's ears to be sure that her infection was gone this time. when I went to pick her up from daycare she was being brought to the front and did not look so good. She apparently just started to vomit . Dr Albert told me to keep her drinking even if she won't eat and that it was a 24 hour bug.
Tuesday we woke up and everything was going well Evelyn was in great spirits considering. she had slept well and only vomited twice after we left the doctor's office. Then around noon or so she got a temperature. By 5 it was bad despite the Tylenol (103.4) the nurse said to try to keep it down and didn't think we needed to come in (I should have brought her in anyway) but of course i had the car seat torn apart to clean the vomit off of it.
Wendsday the Tylenol and Ibuprophen worked somewhat (102.4), Evelyn refused all food and would not do anything other than nurse. Since we had started to ween her I only could hope that I was producing enough milk to support her. We made an appointment to see the doc again to find out that the GI bug had helped to trigger another 2 ear infections. She was given a shot of antibiotics due to her other recent infections. Poor thing was misrable.
Thursday - the shot worked fairly well so she only had to get one more dose then a course of Augmentin. She was definitely was happier this morning and took two long naps during the day.
Friday - Evelyn was still fussy and refusing most food, she did eat a little bit.
Saturday - we spent the day at Grandma and Grandpa's house so we could hang out with Aunt Sarah. Evelyn was still not feeling well but was doing much better and played a lot and even ate some of Grandma's apple sauce! Once home however Evelyn woke up frequently until 11 when she finally stayed asleep. J was supposed to come in today around 6ish but the huge storm in DC meant that he was delayed. He didn't make it in.
Sunday - Evelyn was still exhausted and clingy but daddy's little girl (once he managed to get home). It is good to have J home!

A trip to the doctor
Evelyn was supposed to go to the doctor for a check up to be sure that her ear infection was gone. an hour before I came to pick her up from daycare she started to vomit. she vomited several times including once in the car on the way to the doctor. As I am holding her and talking to the doctor she starts to fuss and cry. the doctor and i both look and Evelyn and remark on her suffering. I start to stroke her head and she puts it on my shoulder when she vomits again - all down my front. we continue the conversation about what to do for her then the doctor says "she just spit up". "yeah I know" was my response - really don't know how I could have missed it... as we finished up the advice portion of the conversation and were getting ready to go she very nicely asked me if there was anything she could get us... "a shower" was about all I could think of at the moment. We did mop up some of the mess with paper towels. but i was glad to get us both cleaned up and into bed...
I'm sorry Evelyn for getting you sick.

Thank you Grandpa!
Today was the day that Jason left for Germany so of course I got sick today. I had stomach cramps and some nausea which wasn't too bad really. I'm glad that Grandpa came up to help me out though because Evelyn had more fun playing downstairs with him then in the bathroom with me. what a way to start a week with out Jason around - I hope Evelyn does not get it.

Missing my little girl
now that Evelyn is going to sleep at 6:30 it leaves us very little time to play. I get to see her maybe 3 hours a day and most of that she is eating and let me tell you it is not enough! I miss my happy little girl that used to play with me for an hour after dinner. Heck I'd even take playing with her in the morning if she woke up earlier! I don't know what to do to get her to take longer naps at daycare. all i know is that she is exhausted, poor thing.

the blog
ok so I've been terrible at blogging latley and really I have no excuse as Evelyn is going to bed at 6:30 giving me plenty of time to clean and keep this up and yet even her blog has 10 entries that I haven't finished - yes even after all the updates that I did today. Right now we are just really frustrated with how her adjustment is going at daycare. there were days in the old room that she only took one 1 hr nap and she was NEVER like this. at the end of this week if she hasn't improved I think I will talk to daycare though I don't know what they will do as I think they filled up her old classroom. tomorrow I will talk to them to see what we can do to have their behavior encourage Evelyn to sleep longer. though even at home she slept 1 1/2-2 hrs but that would be better than one. I feel so bad for her right now. us too as we want to have some playtime. I hope she adjusts quickly.

Are you kidding me?
we have been feeding Evelyn in the kitchen over the hardwoods as they are easier to clean up. tonight after she went to bed. I'm on my knees on the floor sponge in hand and Jason walks into the kitchen and says:
"What are you scrubbing?

The room change
I just don't know how I feel about Evelyn's change in rooms at daycare. I'm not entirely sure that she is ready for just one nap, especially after today. I picked her up and she was crying. she cried the whole way home, through what little dinner that she ate and didn't stop until she was nursed and put to bed at 6:30.
