Week 11!

This week the baby is a lime! (S)he now weighs .25 oz and is 1.6in long. Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through. But, fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future.

boy am i 1excited to get the news out! and the shirt was a huge hit - definitely the way to go! I am so glad that everyone now knows and I can talk about my little baby!

Week 14!

At 3.4 inches and 1.5oz the baby is as long as a lemon! (S)He is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.

Week 10!

We are in the double digits and the baby this week is a prune weighing in at .14 oz and1.2 inches! With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will too.)

Week 13!

The baby is now as long as a peach - approximately 2.9 inches and .81oz! The fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords... savor this, their non-functional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with a head now only one third the size of the body. Intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy. (Much more convenient.)

Week 9!

Baby is a green olive this week! The little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, baby is kind of starting to look like... well... a baby!

Week 12!

The baby is getting big 2.1 in and .49oz and is about as long as a Plum. As you move into the second trimester, baby shifts into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of baby's systems are fully formed.

Week 8!

That's right baby Hirsch is a raspberry! He/She baby is growing like mad, putting on about a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in the trunk. Though you can't feel it yet, baby is moving those little arms, legs and (now only slightly) webbed fingers and toes like crazy.

Week 7!

That's right baby's a blueberry and about .51 inces! Baby's brain -- both hemispheres! -- is growing fast, generating about 100 new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys (baby's third!) is now in place.

Week 6!

Growing like crazy, baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin. Those little hands and feet- still webbed like paddles- might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as yours!), and blood is starting to circulate. The baby is now approximately .25 inches!

Oh the nausia...

This morning was not as bad as yesterday but I still had some issues. Dare I hope that it is getting better and I will only have one bad day this time around??!! I do seem to get a little more nauseous randomly throughout the day which is weird. The fatigue is also getting to me though I know it can't be more than a few more weeks. It is odd sleeping from 8:30 to 6:30 or even 8 depending on the day of the week. I hope Evelyn does well with the transition when it happens, I'll have to talk to the Dr next time we are in to see if there are anyways to make it easier on her. I'll admit I am nervous about that aspect of having another child though I'm sure it will work out.

So fast...

It seems like last time it took forever to get to the nurses appointment let alone the first doctors appointment. I called in to make the appointments this morning and go in to see the nurse on the 27th - that's just over a week away and the long awaited dr's appointment will be on the 17th. I'm sure that soon time will feel like it stopped again soon but in the mean time I am happy to focus on Evelyn, house hunting and my (our!) health.

So far other than being exhausted I have had no symptoms. Yippee for no morning sickness - lets hope it keeps up!

Week 3!

In week 3, sperm meets egg, and voila: conception! Your little zygote sets off on a six-day trek through your fallopian tubes, dividing and redividing into identical cells as it travels to your uterus.

We are on our way to baby #2!!!!
